Performances
Basically Ballet offers a variety of performance opportunities depending on the student’s level of technique and commitment.
Parent Invitation Week is held every December and June. Parents observe the student’s regular class and enjoy a party afterwards. This is a great time for families, students, and teachers to socialize! In June, class work is culminated with a short dance piece which encompasses skills learned throughout the year. The senior level ballet class also perform in order to give students and parents a look into the future!
Public Performances
Basically Ballet believes that performing is a privilege offered to those students who have attained a higher level of skill, maturity and discipline. Students in the higher level classes, ballet 3 and up, participate in Basically Ballet’s “Senior Spotlight” held every June.
Students in Creative Movement to Ballet 2, perform in the “Junior Spotlight”. This is an informal showing of a combination of classwork and dance pieces held in early June.
The Student choreography Showcase, held every fall, gives students the opportunity to create, costume, and perform their own dances.
The Basically Ballet Student Company gives community performances in various charitable and educational type settings. This past year, the company performed at local libraries, nursing homes, and elementary schools.
Dance is a performing art, and the serious dance student needs to gain performance skill as well as excellent technique.
